IDU, Commiserates with Oyo Govt, Victims Over Bódìjà Explosion
The Ibadan sociocultural group for Ibadan indigenes in the Diaspora, Ibadan Descendants’ Union, USA, has commiserated with Oyo State Government and the victims of the unfortunate explosion which took place at Bódìjà yesterday, rocking several parts of Ibadan.
In a message of commiseration released to the media by the National PRO of IDU, Mr. Sola Bolomope, as signed by the National President, Oloye Abiola Iyiola, the group expressed sadness over the unfortunate incident, saying it was a huge disaster for the people of Ibadan, Oyo State Government and the victims. IDU, also sent condolences to the Olúbàdàn of Ibadanland, Oba Senator Mohood Ọlálékan Balogun, Allí-Okunmade II, in whose domain the sad incident occurred.
In the words of the National President of IDU, “It’s distressing to hear of the tragedy that befell our people at home. We acknowledge the tensions that would be created among our people by the incident and we recognise the negative effects the sad occurrence would have on the daily activities in the areas of Ibadan affected by the explosion.”
On behalf of IDU, Oloye Abiola Iyiola expressed his sympathy and prayers to the victims of the explosion, wishing the injured speedy recovery and praying for the repose of the soul of the dead.
In the same vein, IDU appreciated the swift responses from Oyo Government since the incident occurred and expressed gratitude to the government for deploying resources to assist the victims of the explosion, especially those whose houses were destroyed and who were relocated to some hotels for sheltering. He promised that IDU was ready to assist the victims in ways within their capacity.
