In what could be described as give back to the society, the Ibadan Descendants Union (IDU) Florida (States United of America) chapter on Thursday July 6 2023, conducted free medical checks to about 500 participants, inclusive of over 200 beneficiaries of Free Eye Glasses. The event took place at Daylan Event Centre, Ijokodo, Ibadan, Oyo State, Nigeria.
The Beneficiaries described the gesture as unprecedented,: praising the Union for the initiative that has solved their long suffering of medical issues.
Quantifying the program in terms of money spent, the organisers estimated it to the tune of about two million naira, inclusive of logistics and other preparations. This according to them was worth spending to put smiles on the faces of their brothers and sisters here in Nigeria who could not afford the financial luxury of getting such first class medical check up and treated medicated eye Glasses.
In analysing the criteria for selecting the beneficiaries, the organisers said they had no strict criteria, only that anyone benefiting to have been resident of the eleven local governments within Ibadan metropolis, adding that such beneficiaries must have registered within the stipulated two days of registration, Monday 3rd and Tuesday 4th July 2023 respectively.
Newwpot.ng.com spoke separately to the beneficiaries about their experiences, Omolara Monday, Justina Odinkemere, Elder (Mrs) Adebisi Apampa concluded that ”the program was very effective, nice, successful and well coordinated. Every beneficiary was satisfied and happy”
Speaking on behalf of the organisers, Mr. Moruf Emiola and Mr. Hakeem Aremu said the Florida chapter of the Ibadan Descendants Union had been at the Forefront of giving palliatives freely to the masses in the society and the feedback had always been electrifying as the beneficiaries were always appreciative of the gesture whenever it took place periodically.
The money spent were jointly contributed by members of the union in the Florida chapter.

Apart from the medical check ups and free eye Glasses, beneficiaries went away with souvenir bags and and light refreshments.
Doctors were also on ground to prescribe drugs to those examined.
